William J Connolly

William J is a 21-year-old Theatre Journalist currently in his final year of studying a BA (Hons) degree in Journalism at Sheffield Hallam University. He made his professional debut in 2011 with publications in The Times newspaper, reporting live for the WOS Awards in 2012 and still writing for the leading theatre review website publicreviews.co.uk. He is currently Publicity Manager for Victoria Wood’s musical: Acorn Antiques – The Musical at the Sheffield Lyceum Theatre.

In 2012, he worked as an Usher at Sheffield Theatres and made his Sheffield debut with Croft House Theatre Company in The Sound of Music at the Lyceum Theatre. In 2013, he will appear as Minchin’s Lad in Acorn Antiques – The Musical. In 2011, he was fortunate to interview Idina Menzel’s original understudy Shoshana Bean, from the Broadway smash-hit, Wicked.

Theatre credits include: Minchin’s Lad in Victoria Wood’s Acorn Antiques – The Musical (Sheffield Lyceum Theatre), Cagelle in La Cage aux Folles (Rugby Theatre), Spike Dixon in Hi-De-Hi (Abbeydale Picture House), ensemble in The Sound of Music (Sheffield Lyceum Theatre), featured dancer in Fame (Greasepaint Productions) and Disco Inferno (LAOS), Roy in Perfect Pitch (RCC Production), Jesus Christ Superstar (P.Promotions), Simon of Legree in The King and I (LAOS), The Witches of Eastwick, Oliver!, Tommy, featured solo dancer in La Traviata (Charnwood Opera), ensemble soloist in Parade, West End to Broadway, Kiss Me Kate, dancer in The Wedding Singer and The Hired Man with The ESNA Players  and Calamity Jane, Fiddler  on the Roof and Oklahoma with LAOS.
